Richard Hooper b. March 29, 1873-1855 came to Republic of
Texas. February, 1836. He entered the Texas Army as a Commander of a
Company of Cavalrymen July 6- October 6, 1836. Three days before his
discharge, he was elected as a Representative from Shelby to the First
Congress of the Republic of Texas. He was elected County Surveyor
for Shelby County in 1839, 1848. In 1850 he was listed as a
Member of the Shelby County Bar.
